New Hampshire

I go to New Hampshire every year, and here are all the postcards I've accumulated from there!

I've always loved this one! On the back it says: "In the chill air atop New Hampshire's 6,288 foot high Mount Washington, a hardy fox snoozes in the sunshine".

The back states: "Spectacular view of a lightning storm on Lake Winnipesaukee in the lake region of New Hampshire".

I absolutely love the sound of loons, so I love staying on the lakes in NH! The back states: "The Common Loon. A large diving bird inhabiting lakes in the Northern US and most of Canada. The loon is best known for its mournful call heard at night and early morning. Loon numbers have decreased in the East because the bird is most sensitive to human and predator encroachment during the egg setting period in early summer".

The coloring got a bit disorted when I scanned this. I couldn't get it to scan correctly! This one is the M/S Mount Washington, on Lake Winnipesaukee on stormy day. On the back it says "The 'Mount' as it is popularly called, makes two 50 miles trips around the lake during the resort season".

This is the summit sign on Mount Washington, New Hampshire.

I hope you can read this one! If you can't, click on it to make it bigger :)

Here is the M/S Mount Washington, docked at Weirs, New Hampshire. The back states: "She is 230' long; 35' beam; 750 tons; 9' daft; twin diesel engines; cruising speed of 14.5 knots, and a capacity of 1,250". I have a bunch of post cards of this ship!

The back says: "Mt. Washington in the Spring near No. Conway". I love this one, it's so pretty!

This is the M/S Mount Washington, docked at Weird Beach, on Lake Winnipesaukee.

This postcard has a photo from White Lake State Park, NH.

Here is the M/S Mount Washington. In this photo it is a the dock at Weirs Beach, NH.

The back says: "Journey to the top of Mt. Washington NH. The highest peak in the Northeast, 6,288ft. on the Mt. Washington Cog Railway. The worlds' first mountain climbing Cog Railway". I rode on this train to the top of Mt. Washington, and it was a lot of fun! Their website is here.

This one has a caption on the back, but it's actually the same one that's on the front of moose postcard two below this, so you can just read it there :)

The back of this one says: "Franconia Notch, White Mountains, NH. Old Man of the Mountains at northern end of Notch. The face which measures 48' (14.6m) from the forehead to chin is 1200' (366m) above Profile Lake, and 3200' (976m) above sea level. The Flume Gorge has sheer perpendicular walls rising 50' to 75' (15 to 23m) in height and 400' (122m) long. New Hampshire Aerial Tramway on Cannon Mountain, summit 4200' (1281m)".

I've always wanted to see a moose in the wild, but I've only seen them in captivity.

The back of this one says: "Peace and quiet along the heart of the White Mountains, New Hampshire".

On the back it says: "M/S Mount Washington cruise ship in Meredith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee, Meredith, New Hampshire". The website for the cruises is here. I'd like to go on one of the fall foliage cruises.. but it's pretty expensive! Plus we have our own boat we could launch and do our own cruise if we wanted.

On the back it says, "Moose can be found throughout the New England states. Mature cows are generally about three-fourths the size of bulls".

This one is of Gale River and the White Mountains in the background.

This one is Mount Jefferson & Mount Washington, which are the White Mountains.

  1. Wow - American has some absolutely beautiful places. I hope I get to see prairies and wide open spaces like that one day. (In America that is, I've seen such things in South Africa). I love that first photo with the fox and the next one with the lightning too.

I like this new blog - it is a great idea!
